Coffea Arabica Seed Oil Increases Collagen and Elastin

It’s no secret that unroasted coffee beans have skin related benefits when applied topically.  As early as 2013, researchers have known the power behind this everyday plant that finds its way into millions of coffee cups each day.

According to Life Science Extension magazine,

Coffea arabica sea oil has a high concentration of essential fatty acids, sterols, and vitamin E.  This makes it a potent antioxidant and can assist in the prevention of the development of photoaging and inflammatory skin disorders.6

In a placebo-controlled clinical study of 40 female participants, a topical mixture containing Coffea arabica was applied twice daily as a facial wash and once per day as a lotion and night cream. After 12 weeks, treated subjects experienced significant improvements in the appearance of wrinkles, firmness, redness, and texture, compared to the control group.

These impressive results were due to Coffea arabica’s ability to increase production of collagen and elastin and to protect against the loss of moisture.

When Brazilian scientists tested Coffea arabica seed oil on human skin, they found a 1.5-fold increase in elastin production and a nearly 2-fold increase in collagen production compared to the controls. These two proteins are essential for smoothing wrinkles and preserving the firmness and flexibility of facial skin.

One of the biggest and most important cosmetic ingredient exhibitions occurs in April every year in Paris.  The name of this conference is In-Cosmetics and it is the place where the newest and greatest ingredients are announced.

This year, KaffeBueno releases its Coffea Arabica Seed Oil as an upcycled coffee by-product.  Per their website, they claim their ingredient has the following benefits:

  • Increases collagen and elastin.

  • Reduces cellulite

  • Increases blood circulation

  • Protects and repairs skin from UVB & UVA caused photo-ageing.

  • Helps fight dry skin thanks to oleic acid that helps the skin absorb the nourishing oil.

  • Improves pigmentation and overall appearance.

  • Wrinkle soothing.

  • Improves mood.

  • Reduces fever.

  • Alleviates stiff, achy muscles.

  • Soothes insect bites and stings.

  • Boosts metabolism.

They also aim to be eco-friendly by using a blend of natural solvents, like CO2, with pressure and low-temperatures to extract Kaffe Bueno Recycled Coffee Oil.   I look forward to reading the technical specifications document to see what trials they ran and what levels of improvement they were able to demonstrate with their product.
